A closer look at Delaware’s smallest falcon
Small in size but remarkable in flight, the American kestrel offers a compelling window into Delaware’s changing wildlife. Join the Sussex Bird Club and biologist Rachel Yurchisin for an afternoon exploring the Delaware Kestrel Partnership and its work to understand this state-endangered species.
Yurchisin will introduce the bird’s life history, share the partnership’s 2026 banding results, and discuss early findings from Motus radio tracking across Delaware. Nest-box monitoring, banding and tracking help researchers build a clearer picture of where these falcons go—and what their future may hold.
It’s a thoughtful Ready to ReHo Top Pick for curious coastal residents, nature lovers and beginning birders who want to look beyond the scenery and understand the wildlife that makes this region distinctive.
