More Than a House: A Decade of Memories, Friendship and Happiness in Rehoboth Beach

Along the Delaware coast, there's no shortage of beautiful homes. In a market filled with inviting properties, what makes one stand apart isn't always obvious from a listing: sometimes, it's the life lived inside. That belief inspired Ready to ReHo's Featured Homes, an editorial series looking beyond the photographs and floor plans to explore distinctive coastal residences and the people who made them their own.

Our inaugural visit is to 20368 Mallory Square Circle, in Rehoboth Beach's Keys of Marsh Harbor. The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath residence spans 2,754 square feet and includes an enclosed sunroom, a new 14-by-24-foot deck, and a carefully considered renovation. But behind those features is another story. After more than a decade here, the homeowners shared a written reflection with Ready to ReHo about the light, friendships, celebrations, and everyday happiness they'll remember.

A CONVERSATION WITH THE HOMEOWNERS

What made this home feel special from the start?

“From the very beginning, one of the things we loved most about this home was its incredible brightness and welcoming atmosphere. There is something special about walking into a home filled with natural light, where the spaces feel open, comfortable, and inviting.”

The sense of openness carries through the living and dining areas into the sunroom, making the home equally welcoming for quiet mornings and lively company. Throughout, custom oak flooring, thoughtfully selected lighting—including fixtures devoted to displaying art—and distinctive finishes give the rooms an unmistakably personal character.

How did the homeowners shape the house over time?

“Over the years, we have invested an extraordinary amount of love, thought, and attention into making this home our own. Every room has undergone renovations and improvements, reflecting our desire to create a home that was not only beautiful but also comfortable and functional.”

Those decisions are reflected in a redesigned kitchen with solid-wood cabinetry, custom counters and a distinctive backsplash. The baths have individual identities, from custom wallcovering in the powder room and handmade tile in the guest bath to the spa-inspired primary bath. The primary suite also offers two closets with custom built-ins. These are design choices, certainly, but also choices about how everyday life should feel.

Which memories have stayed with them?

“Some of our fondest memories revolve around entertaining. We have hosted many wonderful large parties, filling the home with friends, laughter, conversation, and the kind of energy that makes a house feel truly alive.”

The owners also remember more intimate dinner parties, when meals and conversation stretched into the evening. The flexible gathering spaces and generous deck created room for both kinds of occasions. Outside the home, they point to the neighborhood's swimming pool, tennis courts, walking paths and well-maintained grounds—and to the pleasure of having downtown Rehoboth Beach, its restaurants and the ocean nearby.

What would they like the next owners to experience?

As they prepare for what they call their “next chapter,” the homeowners speak of leaving with gratitude. What comes through most clearly is a generous wish for the people who follow them:

“Our hope is that the next owners will experience the same happiness, sense of community, and enjoyment that we have experienced for more than a decade.”

It's a fitting thought for the first installment of Featured Homes. At Ready to ReHo, the most compelling properties are not simply those with striking finishes or desirable addresses. They're the ones that reveal what it can mean to feel genuinely at home along the Delaware coast.

I wear many hats as a copywriter, including those of a creative director, content producer, videographer, and social media influencer. From 2011 to 2016 I was an integral part of the internal marketing department at The Vitamin Shoppe - first as a copywriter, then promoted to become the manager of marketing and brand copy.

Celebrity-driven pop culture definitely takes a front row seat in my world and my secret dream job might be to host a show like TMZ.  In the meantime however, as I await a call from Kim Kardashian, I would love the opportunity to work with strong brands and create great work in the digital space.  So call me and let's chat about your next project ... or Jennifer Lawrence's upcoming Oscar gown.
