Winter Solstice Lantern Festival

  • Canalfront Park 211 Front Street Lewes, DE 19958 United States (map)

Welcome the return of the light with a glowing waterfront tradition in Lewes. On Monday, December 21, handcrafted lanterns will gather at Canalfront Park for a community parade marking the winter solstice—the shortest day and longest night of the year.

The procession begins at 5 p.m. and starts and ends at Canalfront Park. Make your own lantern, bring one from home, or simply come to watch the warm procession move along the waterfront. The parade is free and open to the public.

Want to make your lantern before the event? Lantern-making workshops will be held at the Rollins Center, 101 Adams Avenue, on Saturday, December 19, and Sunday, December 20, from 10 a.m.–noon and 1–3 p.m. Workshop registration is $10 per person.

This is the kind of community-centered coastal experience Ready to ReHo loves: creative, seasonal, and rooted in a shared sense of place.
